- Thirukovilur
This place is famous for the Ulagalandha Perumal temple dedicated to the Vamana avatharam of lord Vishnu. This is also the birthplace of the dravida Vedham also known as the Nalayira divya prabandham. The 'VINAYAGAR AGAVAL' was written by Avvaiyar in the vinayagar temple here.
- Sri Gnanananda Giri Tapovanam
Situated in the banks of river Thenpannai this place is famous for the panduranga raghunathar temple built in a combination of tamil, oriyan and maharashtrian styles.
- Manalurpet
This place is located at 25 Kms from Thiruvannamalai. Annamalayar, the main deity of Thiruvannamalai temple, is brought on the 5th of Thai or 3rd week of January of every year here for the river festival. This is also the place where the famed Lord Jagatheeswara temple is located .
- Sathanur Dam
The dam is built on the thenpennaiyaru and is surrounded by beautiful gardens on either side. This dam is also known to be a hot cinema shooting spot.
- Gingee Fort
The fort is built around three hills with Rajagiri as the main hill. Legend has it that the mughals even after 7 years of seige could not bring the hills under their control. Temples and mosques are also present within the fort.The fort once ruled by Desingh Raja, quite famous among the kings.
- Golden Temple
The Sri Lakshmi temple or the Vellore golden temple situated at Vellore is constructed at a staggering amount of 300 crores. The temple is situated in the middle of a star shaped structure with five entrances and fast becoming a tourist attraction.
- Theerthamalai Shiva Temple
This is also quite a hot tourist spot. Shivarathri is an important festival at the Theerthagirishwarar temple.
- Javadi Hills
Streching along the eastern ghats this place is known for its scenic beauty and sandal trees.
- Parvathamalai Hills
Situated near Polur at a distance of 45 Kms from Thiruvannamalai these hills are famous for the lord shiva temple atop.
- Yercaud
Located at 4969 feet above the sea level this place is also known as 'Poor man's Ooty' for the cool climate. The beauty here is greenic and scenic.
- Kanchipuram
The city is also known as the 'city of silk' and 'city of 1000 temples'. The city is a famous for its Varadharaja Perumal temple, Ekambareshwaran temple and Kailashanathar temple
- Thennagar
Mythology says that this punya bhoomi is the birth place of goddess Meenakshi. It is also the birthplace of Swami Haridas Giri the disciple of Gnanananda giri.
- Devikapuram
Situated 50 Kms from Thiruvannamalai and famous for Arni silks Perianayakiamman temple and Ponmulainathar temple on the hills.
- Pondy
This was a French colony before independence but is now a union territory within India. This is where the famous Aurobindho ashram is located. The Manakula vinayakar temple is also located here.It was often visited by Bharathiyar.
- Auroville
A city of peace built under the foundation ' no politics and no religion'. It is governed by the Auroville foundation and is supported by the Indian government and UN. One has to see the Matrimandir at this place.
- Mahabalipuram
This is a UNESCO heritage site and is famous for its sculpture of Pallavas. The depictions include Arjuna's penance . The varaha cave temple, shore temple and the pancharathas are a few other important places to visit here. The beach is a must to see.
- Chidambaram
Is the location of the famous Nataraja temple and the Golden sabha. Lord shiva's representation of the famous dance postures are quite famous. Of the pancha bhoothas, space is represented here by the lord.
- Tirupathi
This is probably the richest Hindu temple in the world. This temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu and is one of the 108 divya desam sites. There are about 1 lakh visitors here everyday. Tirupathi comprises of 7 hills and is managed by the TTDC.
